What is Maker Faire?

Maker Faire is a gathering of fascinating, curious people who enjoy learning and who love sharing what they can do. From engineers to artists to scientists to crafters, Maker Faire is a venue for these "makers" to show hobbies, experiments, projects.

We call it the Greatest Show (& Tell) on Earth - a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity, and resourcefulness.

About Glasgow Maker Faire

Science and innovation are embedded in Scotland’s heritage and culture.

Glasgow is a city of innovators, creators, and problem solvers.

To celebrate and showcase this, in 2019 we’re launching Glasgow’s 2nd annual Maker Faire.

A summer event for everyone to come along and enjoy a fun day of invention and creativity on the Clyde.

Glasgow a city of makers

Maker Faire is a community festival bringing together engineering, arts, crafts, music, inventions, science and performance by a variety of makers. A gathering designed to promote idea sharing, learning, workshop participation, and hands-on creative activities.

It’s going to be two fun filled days exploring all the cool projects often hidden away in basements, garages, labs and makerspaces. This event teases out all that creativity and showcases the passion of the people who build marvellous things. Expect to leave amazed and inspired to make.

Maker Faire originated in 2006 in the San Francisco Bay Area as a project of the editors of Make: magazine.  It has since grown into a significant worldwide network of both flagship and independently-produced events.  Read more on Maker Faire history, the Maker Movement.
